The final installment of our #SlowGirlSummer movement! Spotlighting 15 "Slow Girls" who embody our ethos in various ways from content to ethos to products.
I can see it now, "To all the boys who peaked in high school (A Netflix Original.)" While the word "superlatives" might elicit mixed reactions from everyone, we're actually not going to make you relive high school through this blog post. Unless you want to, then by all means, enjoy a trip down memory lane...
Introducing ✨SLOW GIRL SUPERLATIVES✨
These superlatives are a lot more wholesome – a massive grand finale to our "Slow Girl Spotlight" series in which we've been highlighting amazing people who live out the philosophy of #SlowGirlSummer.
If you don't recall, Slow Girl Summer is built upon the following ideas:
And as summer winds down and our founder Shyne (sadly not a #dropout) gears up for her senior year of college, we thought it would be the perfect time to crown our superstar community members with some unique and fun superlatives!
After hours of research, thinking, and scouring the internet for content, we've compiled this epic list of entrepreneurs, creatives, and brands who align with SGS and will help you embody this way of life all year long, even after summer's over.
Before we announce these: make sure you share this fun little blog on your socials (IG story & Twitter preferred), so everyone who won a superlative can feel the LOVE!!! Congratulate your faves & remember: don't be a hater! We couldn't spotlight EVERYONE, but we've done our best to spread the "shyne" all around.
DRUMROLL PLEASE 🥁
SLOWEST GIRL OF THE SUMMER: @alexacoaches
Alexa is a business and mindset coach who helps women businesses that feel GOOD. Her teachings around letting business be easy, incorporating fun into your business, and growing your sense of self & confidence as a leader are always thought-provoking and inspiring.
SLOWEST BRAND OF THE SUMMER: Siesta
Siesta is a lifestyle brand centered around rest and relaxation, helping you reset with thoughtfully designed products and experiences, like their Casita in Dominican Republic. While they're still in pre-launch, you can support the mission by collecting one of their inaugural "Do Not Disturb" NFTs.
SLOW GIRL SOCIAL MEDIA STAR: @struttosuccess
Gabby, the CEO of Strut Communications, is a true expert and veteran in her field who always serves the best outfits and content minus the industry's icky messaging like "post 3x a day." This #slowgirlsummer, she started a new weekly tradition of Saturday Movie Nights with her wife!
MOST LIKELY TO BE IN LIZARD MODE 24/7: @lpawell
Lauren is the founder of Bixa Media, a marketing consultancy almost a decade old that focuses on sustainable business growth. When she's not working, she's outside. Seriously, her whole feed is full of dreamy nature photos. We love it!
MOST LIKELY TO BE IN SLOTH MODE: @isabel_doonan
Izzy is the co-founder of Sacreage (tokenizing land for conservation & reclamation) and Girls Gotta Eth (an NFT project & merch line supporting women's reproductive health.) She's also evangelized the #SlowGirlSummer movement a ton & has organized a Twitter Space around mental health!
MOST ICONIC BRAND OF THE SUMMER: Poolsuite
Poolsuite, the organization behind Vacation suncreen and ManorDAO, just keep dropping hit after hit. Their original radio station and website have amassed a cult following, and their nostalgic, ahead of its time 80s branding ushered in a new (or old) design era.
BEST LIFESTYLE CONTENT OF THE SUMMER: @karsenmurray
Karsen is a copywriter and mentor who regularly shares a blend of lifestyle, copy, and general business content. Whereas most entrepreneurs only post personal content to humanize themselves, Karsen's lifestyle content is very clearly an intentional part of her brand and business ethos. Plus it's sparkly.
BEST EVENTS OF THE SUMMER: Boys Club
Stealing directly from the source here, but "Boys Club is a dinner series and group chat for the crypto curious. It’s designed for women and non-binary people, but welcoming all. Zero crypto experience required. No technical know-how needed. Come with a curious spirit and a willingness to learn." Join, so you can party with the Boys.
BEST SLOW GIRL BRAND BUILDING: Mems
The Mems are on a mission to be a full lifestyle brand with NFTs, as opposed to just another NFT project. Not only have they grown a 50k+ community without paid promotion or a spammy Discord, they've also hosted a handful of IRL Mems events this summer to grow their presence. Their attentive lore and worldbuilding, dedication to community, and thoughtful perspectives are a breath of fresh air in the web3 space. And the art is cool.
BEST SLOW GIRL BUSINESS CONTENT: @richwebz
Rich owns a design agency and is lowkey internet famous for his teachings around productivity (especially for creatives.) And while he's not a girl, he's definitely giving Slow Girl. His content is actionable, consistent, and will definitely help you find your own slow girl rhythm all year long.
HONORABLE SLOW GIRL SPOTLIGHTS:
People we love to follow – you should, too!
Congrats to everyone who was recognized with a Slow Girl Superlative! We wanted to take this last chance to amplify some amazing people in our community, so make sure to connect with all of these folks! And if you recognize any of your faves on this list, be sure to congratulate them on socials!!! If you were hoping to get a superlative but didn't, remember that you're an anti-burnout baddie with or without a title 🧡
This Slow Girl Summer has been truly life-changing and eye-opening for so many people. Like the true Californian I am, I believe summer is endless. More importantly, #SlowGirlSUmmer is endless. Because we might've started this movement in the summertime, but the idea of holistic wellness and not being burnt out sounds like something we should subscribe to all year long. Let this be a charge and reminder to you to live your dream life TODAY and EVERYDAY. To not let work be the only good thing in your life. To slow down, be intentional about the flow of your time and attention, and thrive year round.
Until next summer...
